What’s a Doula Anyway?
What is a doula?
A glimpse into my birth doula bag
Doulas are non-medical birth professionals who are trained to assess labor, help with efficiency of labor, advocate during pregnancy, labor & postpartum, assist in labor pain management, & support families physically, mentally & educationally during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. We make sure women get the best care possible from pre-conception all the way through postpartum & reduce the risk of unnecessary interventions, birth trauma & unplanned cesareans.
In the case of pregnancy or infant loss, a bereavement doula helps the family through the process in its entirety to allow the family to feel connected to and able to grieve their baby(ies). This does include getting (moment)os & photos for the family when desired - I am not a professional photographer but I do my best to give each family sacred photos of or\and with their baby when desired. Bereavement Doulas help at any stage of pregnancy - all loss is loss. We also support the dynamic situations that come with future conception & pregnancy.
